New face

A model an agency has just brought to market and is pushing as the discovery of the season. The status is temporary: it holds for one or two seasons, until the face stops being new.

What happens during it

The agency invests: tests, a printed composite card, introductions to clients and a place in the queue for first-line castings. The schedule is dense, five castings a day is normal, and rejections arrive in a stream — that is the job, not a signal.

At the same time you are being watched: how fast you reply, whether you turn up on time, how you behave on set. Those observations decide whether the investment continues after the first season.

Why the second season is harder

Novelty works once. In season two you are compared against your own results: how many shows, which publications, who booked you again. Models who got through the first season on interest alone usually stop here.

What to do while it lasts

Update digitals monthly, keep the calendar clear, answer your booker within the day, and never cancel something confirmed. And collect material: every shoot in this period should leave one frame that stays in the book.

If it does not land

Missing the first season does not end a career: line-ups are rebuilt, a type comes into fashion late, and a fair number of models start working in their third year. What changes is the material — fresh digitals and new tests — not the face.
