Paid accompaniment of a client — to dinner, an event or on a trip. It has nothing to do with modelling work, though the offers arrive through the same channels and are often dressed up as “promo”, “hostess” or “accompanying a delegation”.
How to tell in one minute
By what is being paid for. Modelling work pays for a result: frames, an exit on a runway, a shift on a stand — and somebody accepts that result. Escort pays for time alone with one particular person, and no result is expected.
Everything else follows from that: no team, no brief, no corporate client, but an “important guest”, a dinner, and cash for the evening.
Typical wording
“Accompanying a business dinner”, “hostess work at a private event”, “a trip with a client for the weekend”, “meeting a delegation”. The common thread: the place is named but the client is not; terms are discussed only in a messenger app; contracts never come up.
A separate variant is an invitation abroad with flights and accommodation paid. There the usual risk is joined by a foreign country, a confiscated passport, and a debt for the journey that suddenly turns out to be yours.
If the offer came from an agency
That is a reason to check the agency, not to accept. A real agency works with the client’s legal entity and documents the job in writing, stating what exactly is being paid for.
