A face a shopper reads easily: friendly, well kept, equally convincing in life and in a frame.
How to tell whether it is your type
Features are regular but not sharp; your smile comes out natural rather than arranged; in a photograph you look much as you do in life. People place you easily as a neighbour, a colleague, an older sister — as one of their own.
A practical sign: in your pictures the viewer’s eye travels to whatever you are holding rather than staying on your face. For advertising that is a merit, not a defect.
What work it brings
Cosmetics, fragrance, lingerie, household goods and services, catalogues, webshop shoots, commercials. There is far more work in the commercial segment than on the runway and it pays better — but there will be fewer magazine publications and fewer famous names in the book.
What to shoot for the book
Frames with live emotion — a smile, laughter, calm attention. A shoot holding a product. The same person in different registers: business, at home, sporty. A client needs to see that you land inside their audience.
Shoot your hands separately: in commercial work they are in frame constantly, and unkempt hands cost bookings more often than people think — «The Close-Up Checklist: Nails, Lips, Edges».
What to understand about this type
It is thought of as easy, and that is a mistake. Holding naturalness for twenty takes is harder than striking a dramatic pose: the moment the face starts trying, the frame stops selling.
