Answering client requests with a handful of candidates matched to the brief. Agreeing the rate and the usage. Putting options and confirmations into the chart. Chasing payment when a client is late. And arguing your case to a client — the part a model never sees.
Why so much depends on them
A client is not shown the whole board, only three to five people. Whether you are among them is the booker’s call, made on how recent your digitals are, whether you are free on those dates, and how your last jobs went.
Which leads to something practical: a booker needs your plans, your limits and your current pictures. That is a working requirement, not an exchange of courtesies.
How to work with one
Reply the same day. Flag trips and studies in advance, not on the morning of the casting. Send fresh digitals once a month without being asked. Never cancel something confirmed — a cancellation damages the booker in front of the client more than it damages you.
What not to expect
Guaranteed work, or an explanation for every rejection: clients often give none. A booker sells what the market wants this season, and a quiet month is usually the market, not a verdict on you.
